Eastern Standard Time

In the author’s Midwestern childhood, changing the clocks to standard time signaled a transition from long summertime evenings to the cooler, more structured days of fall, winter, and spring. Leaning into the feeling of that transition and those seasons, Eastern Standard Time explores different types of change, holding grief and uncertainty alongside hope and beauty. In these pages, you’ll find poems in conversation with the past, as well as with the technologies, structures, and systems we are navigating now as we choose how to shape the future.

Heresy and Other Prayers

Heresy and Other Prayers is a conversation with my past—questioning what I was taught should never be questioned and unraveling hand-me-down beliefs from deeply-known truths. Explorations the Divine Feminine and expressions of doubts about religious authority are unwelcome in many church communities, but these poems are evidence that even what might be considered heretical can contain whispers of prayer.
